Cameroon’s social and economic realities continue to shape how people live, relate, and define themselves. With a private sector minimum wage of around 60,000 FCFA per month and rising living costs, many households are navigating not only financial pressure but also growing emotional fatigue. In parallel, global conversations around wellbeing reflect similar concerns, with Cameroon ranking 100th in the 2025 World Happiness Index. These figures are a stark depiction of the sad reality of most households across the country and a reminder that questions of dignity, purpose, and emotional stability are becoming as urgent as economic survival.
It is within this context that counsellor and coach Bernice Enang introduces Finding You, a book that has been in development for three years. At its core, the work is a deeply human exploration of identity, emotional growth, and personal transformation. Subtitled around the idea of “negotiating life’s transitions, upscaling the whole,” the book invites readers into a reflective journey from confusion to clarity, and from emotional fragmentation to wholeness.

Drawing from real-life stories, coaching practice, and the Benk Assist philosophy, Finding You positions itself not merely as a self-help guide but as what the author describes as a mirror, a compass, and a quiet conversation with oneself. It focuses particularly on emotional intelligence, self-worth, and the often overlooked inner struggles that shape how individuals show up in their families, workplaces, and communities.
A central theme of the book is the author’s intentional focus on men, a group often expected to embody strength without space for emotional vulnerability. Bernice Enang speaks to a “passion to make men seen and heard,” grounded in the belief that even one man understanding and applying the message could transform how he lives and relates to others. In this sense, the book positions emotional awareness not as abstract theory, but as a practical pathway to healthier families and more balanced communities.
The official launch of Finding You is scheduled for May 9, 2026 in Yaoundé, and will feature a panel discussion under the theme: “Identity, Masculinity and Mental Health Awareness for Family Harmony and Thriving Communities.”
The panel will bring together Mr Elangwe S. Elenga and Mr Elysee Fossi as speakers, with Mr Nwain Wilfred serving as moderator. The conversation is expected to explore the evolving definitions of masculinity, emotional wellbeing, and the role of identity in shaping healthier family and social structures.
The book will also be reviewed by Miss Comfort Mussa and Mr Nso Paul, adding critical perspectives to the discussion around its themes of healing, identity, and personal development
At a time when conversations around mental health and emotional wellbeing are gradually gaining ground in Cameroon and beyond, Finding You enters the public space as more than a literary work. It becomes part of a wider dialogue on how individuals can navigate life’s 0transitions while maintaining emotional integrity, self-awareness, and purpose.
For many, the book’s central question remains quietly powerful: in a world of pressure, expectation, and constant change, what does it truly mean to find yourself, and to live whole?
