In a move to boost healthcare collaboration between China and Cameroon, the Deputy governor Zhao Hong Yang of Shanxi province during his stay in Cameroon paid a visit to the Gynaecology, Pediatric and Obstetrics Hospital in Yaounde commonly known by its French acronym HGOPY.
The health facility it should be mentioned is a fruit of years of corporation between the two countries.
The visit took place on Tuesday July 22, 2025 at the premises of the hospital structure.
The objective of Deputy Governor Zhao Hong Yang was to get first-hand knowledge of the activities carried out at the health facility and take stock of what could be done to ameliorate the quality of services offered there.
Upon arrival the Chinese official was warmly welcomed by the Hospitals Director, Dr Charles Nsom Mba alongside his deputy, the Board chair and other hospital staff.
Dr Charles Nsom Mba and team took their Chinese counterpart through various services in the hospital such as the Operation ward, scanning unit, pediatric and maternity services amongst others.
The warm smile and comforting words Yang offered the hospital personnel and patients renewed their hope and strength. It was also an opportunity to exchange with Chinese personnel offering their expertise in the health facility.
“I believe that she will return with a sense of satisfaction knowing that this corporation is doing well and should continue. The relationship between these two countries will only result in fruitful benefits” said Charles Nsom Mba deputy director of HGOPY during the hospital tour.
The Chinese general medicine service established in the hospital aligns with the bilateral cooperation between Cameroon and China which enhances healthcare, providing better medical services in this health facility specialized in the care and follow up of women and children.
