NW champions Dream Team FC reach National Interpools semis

Dream Team FC came from behind to defeat Mintack du Septentrion 3-1 to become the first club to qualify for the semi-final of the 2025 National Interpools in Yaounde. The North West champions needed to win in their final Pool B game at the CAF Excellence Centre in Mbankomo to sail through and put up a commendable display in the crucial tie.

Sylvain Franck Poualeu cancelled out Guigno Robert’s early opener before Tata Lesley put Dream Team FC ahead before the break. The North West region flag bearers sealed the win through Malachi in 77 minutes.

It is the second time that Dream Team FC have come from behind to win a game at the National Interpools in Yaounde. During their tournament opener, they staged a comeback to beat Epervier of Ebolowa 2-1 to make a winning start.

They continued their push towards advancing to the next round after defeating Ntoung Ngouong of the East region in a five-goal thriller. Dream Team FC came close to a third straight win in the competition but narrowly lost to Titanic FC Samar of the Littoral Region 1-0 in their penultimate Pool B clash.

The semi-final bound finished the first phase of the National Interpools with nine points from three wins and one defeat.

Tuesday’s victory means Dream Team FC are only one win away from securing promotion to the MTN Elite Two championship for the first time in the club’s history. The finalists of the National Interpools qualify directly for the second division.

The team is featuring at the National Interpools for the first time and are keen on making history. They could join two other clubs of the North West Region, Ngoketunjia FC and Bafmeng United Football Academy (BUFA) in the second tier next season.
