Beautifully clad in their women’s day fabric, the female staff of the Cameroon Telecommunications, CAMTEL company marched with broad smiles at the 20th May Boulevard.
The celebration of the International Women’s Day on March 08, 2026 was an opportunity for CAMTEL to renew its support for women. “CAMTEL, committed to Rights, Justice, and Action for ALL women and girls” was the message they carried as they marched past before the First Lady, Chantal Biya; their General Manager, Judith Yah Sunday epse Achidi and the thousands of spectators.
The march past marked the grand finale of a week-long series of activities in the build of the celebration of International Women’s Day 2026.
After the parade, the CAMTEL staff gathered at the premises of Club CAMTEL in Yaounde to celebrate and recognise the women driving the digital space at the Institution.

Addressing the staff and guests present, the CAMTEL GM noted that the day was an opportunity to reflect on progress in promoting gender equality and to recognise the important role women play in building more inclusive and innovative workplaces.
She stated: “International Women’s Day is both a moment of recognition and a call to action with women across the world working with determination, often quietly, to build just and balanced societies.”
According to figures presented by the GM, CAMTEL currently has one female inspector, six female directors, nearly 50 women serving as sub-directors, department heads, and regional representatives, and hundreds of women working as service heads, engineers, technicians, and professionals in support services.
In spite of these achievements, Judith Yah Sunday acknowledged that some challenges still prevail with some societal stereotypes continually limiting opportunities for women in certain sectors.
Regardless, she encouraged women to continue asserting themselves through competence, dignity and perseverance.

She added that the company intends to strengthen mentorship programmes aimed at helping young female recruits grow into engineers, experts and leaders of tomorrow.
Through initiatives like the “CAMTEL Digital Women,” the institution is working tirelessly to bridge the digital gap, and so far, it has trained thousands of young girls in digital skills, including coding and cybersecurity.
“Connecting a woman means connecting a family and accelerating the national economy”, the General Manager explained.
She also reminded staff of the importance of integrity and professionalism, warning that acts such as fraud or misuse of company resources undermine the credibility and progress of the institution.
